Terms and Conditions of Service

RATES: CleanPowerSF electric generation costs are managed with the intention of providing cleaner power at competitive rates. CleanPowerSF rates and cost comparisons with PG&E rates are available at cleanpowersf.org/rates or by calling (415) 554-0773. CleanPowerSF customers may also upgrade to SuperGreen service, featuring 100% renewable energy, for a modest per kilowatt-hour (kWh) premium. CleanPowerSF rates are adopted at duly noticed public meetings of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) and are subject to San Francisco Board of Supervisors review. CleanPowerSF rates are set annually and may change over time; cost comparisons with current PG&E rates are provided for informational purposes only and are subject to change. PG&E will also charge CleanPowerSF customers a Power Charge Indifference Adjustment (PCIA) and Franchise Fee Surcharge. CleanPowerSF has accounted for these additional PG&E charges in calculating the cost comparisons provided at cleanpowersf.org. Please contact PG&E for more information about the PCIA and Franchise Fee Surcharge. PG&E’s assistance programs, such as California Alternate Rates for Energy Program (CARE), will continue to apply for eligible CleanPowerSF customers.

BILLING: CleanPowerSF customers will receive a single monthly bill from PG&E that includes all electricity related charges, including CleanPowerSF electric generation charges. CleanPowerSF electric generation charges replace PG&E’s electric generation charges. PG&E will continue to charge for transmission, distribution, electric public purpose programs and other non-generation charges at the same rates it charges customers who do not receive CleanPowerSF service.

ENROLLMENT: Except in the case of customers already served by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission, CleanPowerSF is the default electricity provider in the City and County of San Francisco. In phases during our multi-year enrollment period, customers in San Francisco will be transferred automatically to CleanPowerSF’s Green service unless they opt out. CleanPowerSF customers can also choose, at any time, to upgrade to SuperGreen service (100% renewable electricity). To opt out of CleanPowerSF service or upgrade to SuperGreen, Customers should have their PG&E Account Number on hand and visit cleanpowersf.org or call (415) 554-0773.

OPT OUT: Customers who prefer to receive electric generation from PG&E must opt out of CleanPowerSF service. Customers may opt out of CleanPowerSF any time after their account(s) is/are scheduled for enrollment by visiting cleanpowersf.org or by calling (415) 554-0773 with their PG&E Account Number on hand. Customers who opt out of CleanPowerSF service more than 60 days following their service start date will be subject to PG&E’s terms and conditions of service, including not having the option to return to CleanPowerSF for one year. For information on PG&E’s terms and conditions, visit pge.com/cca. Upon cancellation of CleanPowerSF service, customers will be charged for all CleanPowerSF electricity used before transferring electric service to PG&E. Accounts will be transferred to PG&E on their scheduled meter read date and cannot be transferred during the middle of a billing cycle. Opt out requests not received at least five (5) business days prior to the account’s next meter read date will be processed on the subsequent meter read date. Customers who cancel their electric service entirely (e.g., move) will not be charged a termination fee and may sign-up to return to CleanPowerSF at any time.

FAILURE TO PAY: CleanPowerSF may transfer customer accounts to PG&E upon 14 calendar days’ written notice if the account holder fails to pay their bill. Such transfer of service is subject to the termination fee described above and may be subject to collections.

PRIVACY: CleanPowerSF is committed to protecting customer privacy. View our full Notice of Accessing, Collecting, Storing, Using, and Disclosing Energy Usage Information at cleanpowersf.org/privacy.
