Break Up with Gas
Move on with clean, all-electric appliances.
As a CleanPowerSF customer, you are already enjoying the benefits of powering your home with clean energy, like wind and solar. You can take it a step further by electrifying your home, which means replacing gas appliances with clean, safe, efficient electric appliances.
Why Electrify?
Health: Natural gas appliances can release harmful pollutants into your home, which can be toxic to people and pets.
Safety: Natural gas is highly flammable, and gas lines in your home can become a safety hazard if there is an earthquake or fire.
Climate: Gas use in buildings is responsible for more than one-third of San Francisco’s greenhouse gas emissions, which contribute to global climate change.
Performance: Electric heating, water heaters, and cooking solutions have come a long way and now offer outstanding performance, reliability, and low operating costs.

Net Energy Metering & Rooftop Solar
Customers with rooftop solar energy systems on their homes can reduce their monthly electric bill by generating their own clean power. Customers can receive a credit on their bills for the excess energy they add to the grid each month. Those credits may subsequently be used to offset the cost of energy purchased from the grid in a later month. Customers that generate more power than they consume during the year are eligible to receive a payment from CleanPowerSF. Learn more about CleanPowerSF's NEM program.
